Kayla Freeman is the Life Skills Coach/Program Manager for the Mpowering My Success Program at the University of Michigan-Flint. She holds both a BSW and MSW degree and is currently working towards an MBA and MSLOD degree at UM-Flint. Kayla has been with UM-Flint and utilizing the Fostering Success Coaching Model on her campus since 2016. Kayla has completed both the Level I and Level II Fostering Success Coach Trainings. Now, as Fostering Success Coach Trainer, she hopes to continue to spread awareness of the unique strengths and challenges of our students who have experienced foster care while providing a fun, interactive, and collaborative learning environment during her trainings. Prior to her arrival at UM-Flint, Kayla worked as an Outpatient Mental Health Therapist in Jackson, MI and as a Clinical Specialist in Livonia, MI. Much of her prior professional, educational, and research experiences have focused on the needs of and how to provide the best support to young people who have experienced foster care.
